The Only Way You Can Rock an Interview
Don’t settle and be proud of who you are.
A few months ago, my younger brother finished his studies and started his first job-hunting. He doesn’t seem to worry too much, nor did he ask for any tips before the interview.
I was so curious about how it went. So I sneaked in his room and asked. And he shared an interesting conversation with me.
What is your weakness, the employer asked a very typical and tricky question.
I work very slow, my brother replied.
I was extremely shocked and immediately educated him and said, “No, you should say you are a detailed-minded person, so you always take extra time to make sure your task is completed perfectly.”
My brother laughed and said he did not give a shit about this.
Why can’t I tell the truth and be who I am, he asked.
Right…why can’t we be just who we are in the interview?
Because we are taught with all these business etiquettes at school?
Because society has been trying to instill a standard for every model employee?
Or we worry that we would not be accepted and liked?
